GLASS TERRARIUMS

If you have ever sat through a PBS special of the BBC’s movie adaptation of any of Jane Austin’s novels then you would be familiar with the lengthy scenes of rather well dressed women tenderly enjoying their time pruning geraniums in a lush 18th century conservatory.  These are the images that come to life when I think of a greenhouse, conservatory, or terrarium. I imagine myself not tied to my computer, making multiple grocery stops for that one important item, or answering text messages but rather enjoying my large conservatory in my spacious backyard where plants seem to require no real effort. Something like this but far less fabric…

However, this is not reality and after a quick Google search I realize that no it is not possible to build a conservatory in a portion of an apartment or condo. So the following isn’t even in the realm of possible.

My quest to quickly pick up a gardening skills in the dead of winter seems to be dwindling, along with the conception that I’ll be able to pick up a conservatory at Costco for a reasonable price. However, with a bit of continued search I begin to better understand the pros of having a terrarium rather than a greenhouse in my cosy apartment.  For one it would fit and two it might be a better idea to start small and then expand. Given my recent revelation that it maybe in the better interest of my neighbors and myself that I should purchase a glass terrarium over trying to install a greenhouse from Costco in my apartment, I will need to further investigate the multitude of tips available online for starting ones own indoor garden.  Let the search begin.Please visit again to gain insight as I start this more manageable project.
